Making these Pumpkin Spice Cake Mix Donuts is so easy. With just a spice cake mix ( I used Duncan Hines) a can of pumpkin puree and an egg mixed up. they are delicious. Make them ahead of time to grab during the week on your way out the door.

Tis the season for all things apple and pumpkin haha. I have already started making my PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE in the afternoon. These donuts go great with it. They are frosted with pumpkin buttercream frosting and oh yum. I picked up a donut pan last week and I couldn't wait to try it out. I started looking for recipes and wanted something really simple. The first recipe I tried was just cake mix and pumpkin and the donuts fell apart :(. However, that very well could be something that I did wrong and not the recipe itself. Anyway, on my second try, I added an egg and they were delicious. So all you will need is a spice cake mix, a can of pumpkin puree, and an egg. For the pumpkin buttercream frosting, you will need butter, powdered sugar, pumpkin puree, and pumpkin spice.
Can I use Store Bought Frosting ?-
Absolutely you can. You could also use cream cheese frosting as well, it goes great with pumpkin.
You can also just make a glaze with powdered sugar and hot water and drizzle on the donuts when they are warm. If you have other ideas drop me a comment and let me know. ( sprinkles are great.)

- Vanilla (optional)

- OVEN
- Electric Mixer
- Mixing Bowl, serving bowl , spatula
- Donut Pan
Ingredients
- 1 Cake Mix Spice Cake
- 1 Can (15 oz) Pumpkin Puree
- 1 Large Egg
Pumpkin Butter Cream Frosting
- ¾ cup Butter Softened
- ¼ cup Pumpkin Puree
- 3 cups Powdered Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 1 teaspoon Pumpkin Pie Spice Or a mixture of Cinnamon and nutmeg
Instructions
- For Donuts
- Pre-Heat Oven to 425°
- Spray the donut pan with food release
- In a mixing bowl pour in the cake mix, stir in pumpkin puree and egg
- I just mixed well with a wooden spoon ,electric mixer can be used if desired
- Use a pastry bag and pipe or spoon into donut pan
- Bake 8-10 minutes or until the donuts spring back when touched
- Let the donuts cool at least 5 minutes before moving to a cooling rack
- When still Slightly warm frost donuts
Frosting
- In a mixer, add the softened butter and the pumpkin puree and mix until combine
- Then add the powdered sugar.
- Mix on a low speed until the butter/pumpkin mixture and the powdered sugar are combined
- Add the vanilla and mix until combined. Add Pumpkin Pie Spice or Cinnamon and Nutmeg
- If Frosting is too stiff add a little milk 1 teaspoon at a time until desired consistency
